Book #: Book 8 in the Morganville Vampires series

Book description:
Vampire musician Michael Glass has attracted the attention of a big- time producer who wants to cut a demo and play some gigs-which means Michael will have to enter the human world. For this, he’s been assigned escorts that include both a dangerous immortal as well as Michael’s all-too-human friends. And with that mix of personalities, this is going to be a road trip from hell…

My review:
This was damn good. The characters finally leave Morganville, for a short time, to head out to Dallas with Michael so he can record a demo. Of course, everything goes wrong. Oliver has to come with them, and he has a secret mission, to find out about reports of vampires existing in a city outside Morganville.

If things can go wrong, they do. They piss off a group of rednecks, Eve’s car is destroyed (but happy days, she finds a new car and one that is way more suitable), the group is accused of murder, there are some really bad vampires on the loose and killing people… it’s just action action action.

I am curious about the willingness of Amelie to let the group go to Dallas so that Michael can record a demo. She is concerned about keeping vampires a secret outside of Morganville, yet she lets a vampire go record a demo, which can lead to him becoming famous. Yet he cannot die, and clearly people are gonna notice when he doesn’t age, if he is in the public eye… really, it’s like they didn’t think this storyline through that much. Oh well, we will see where it goes in the future books. Maybe there is a reason? There usually is a reason for why things happen in these books.

Final review:
Kiss of death rating: 8/10
Would I re-read it? Yes, this was a different book to the rest of the series in that it takes place outside of Morganville, and it has a different feel to it as a result.
Who would I recommend it to? For fans of the series, fans of young adult paranormal romances featuring vampires.
