Book #: Book 3 in the Morganville Vampires series
When Claire Danvers learned that her college town was run by vampires, she did what any intelligent, self-preserving freshman would do: She applied for a transfer and stocked up on garlic. The transfer is no longer an option, but that garlic may come in handy.
Now Claire has pledged herself to Amelie, the most powerful vampire in town. The protection her contract secures does little to reassure her friends. All of a sudden, people are turning up dead, a stalker resurfaces from Claire’s past, and an ancient bloodsucker extends a chilling invitation for private lessons in his secluded home.
I may have read this book in a day… it’s becoming a trend with this series. It’s still non-stop action, so much happens in these books and the characters are so good. Everyone is trying to adjust to Michael’s decision to become a vampire, and Claire is trying to adjust to her new contract with Amelie that means she can never leave Morganville, even though Shane wants to leave and wants her to come with him. There’s a party that ends in bloodshed, there’s a scary alley that leads to a mad genius slowly sucumbing to dementia, there’s a psychotic murdering brother on the loose, and someone has stabbed a vampire and one of the housemates.
Oh, and that last page? Bloody hell. I now need to start the 4th book ASAP as I need to know what is gonna happen. Amelie has 30 minutes to get to the house or they all get slaughtered by the newcomer- I swear this poor house is a magnet for trouble. It’s awesome.
Midnight Alley rating: 8/10
