Book description:
Trehan Daciano, known as the Prince of Shadows, has spent his life serving his people—striking in the night, quietly executing any threat to their realm. The coldly disciplined swordsman has never desired anything for himself – until he beholds Bettina, the sheltered ward of two of the Lore’s most fearsome villains.
Desperate to earn her guardians’ approval after a life-shattering mistake, young Bettina has no choice but to marry whichever suitor prevails—even though she’s lost her heart to another. Yet one lethal competitor, a mysterious cloaked swordsman, invades her dreams, tempting her with forbidden pleasure.
Even if Trehan can survive the punishing contests to claim her as his wife, the true battle for Bettina’s heart is yet to come. And unleashing a millennium’s worth of savage need will either frighten his Bride away – or stoke Bettina’s own desires to a fever pitch….

My review:
Wow, this book.. I wondered if it’d be any good, going in, as I felt that the Dacians weren’t a very interesting bunch. I was so very wrong. Trehan is super hot, and his brand of vampire is so very different to the Hoarde or the Forebearers, with a whole different set of rules. Plus he’s kinda super awesome and lethal and so sure of himself. And Bettina (whose name I hate but ohwell) is kinda cool in an unassuming way, she’s in a bit of a bad situation with the whole ‘creatures vying for her hand in marriage’ thing and that adds an interesting premise to the whole story.

This may also be the first book of this series to feature it’s very own love triangle, so that made it rather exciting.

I hope there is more to this series, as so far this is the only book of the Dacians, and I do want to learn more about the other characters. I reckon there is a serious side-series to this group that would be well appreciated by fans of the IAD series, plus the Dacians are a pretty interesting bunch, given they were hidden from the world for centuries and all. Definitely need more of this series happening!

Final review:
Shadow’s claim rating:
8.5/10. Really great, and I am in love with Trehan.
Would I re-read it? Yup
Who would I recommend it to? Definitely a must-read for fans of the IAD series. It is a book for fans of paranormal fiction, focusing on vampires and demons, and although this book is part of the IAD series, it is also the beginning of a separate but related series, so could be a good starting point for people curious about this author and her series and wanting to check out one of the books.
