Book #: Book 7 in the Ben Hope series

Ben is back in London, to honour his late wife, where by chance he runs into two friends from his days back at university, studying Theology. Simeon, who is a Reverend now, and his wife Michaela, whom Ben dated before Simeon snagged her. Things should be great, catching up with old friends, until those old friends die in a horrific car accident that is anything but an accident. Ben must find out who targeted his friends and why, and if it has anything to do with the mysterious project Simeon was working on before his death. He also has to track down the last living remnant of his friend’s lives, their 20 year old son who looks somewhat familiar.

My review:
Last book we got Ben’s sister back, this book we get his old friends and their surprise twist family connection…. I expect a long-lost rich aunt whose left her fortune to Ben in the next book.
Anyways. I love this series. The books are fast-paced and fun, there are elements of history woven through them (of course all fantasy, but written in a way that is so damn believable), and the stories themselves don’t require much heavy thinking. You just sit back and enjoy the ride, and hope Ben will make it out of yet another serious scrape. Plus he always seems to pick up the most interesting strays along the way.

Final rating:
The Sacred Sword rating:
9/10. Just a fun read.
Would I re-read it? This series is one I plan on reading again, they are enjoyable to read over and over again.
Who would I recommend it to? fans of action books. There are a lot of books like this out there, so if you are fans of this kind of historical fantasy books set in the present with loads of action, then this is the book and series for you.
